A surgical team from Park Ridge Hospital is home, after spending several days helping earthquake victims in Haiti. Many team members say they are very impressed with the resilience of the Haitian people. However, they say the earthquake's devastation was extreme.
For many victims, Park Ridge teams were the first medical attention they had received. Team members report that some medical supplies are scarce and proper sterilization was difficult. They say some patients have broken bones and severe injuries and are going without pain medication.
Park Ridge Hospital plans to send another team of medical professionals to Haiti in March. In the mean time, they continue to collect donations.
