3 Firefighters Hurt By Falling Debris

Three firefighters are hurt after a roof collapses during a fire.
Firefighters had to be treated by EMS outside the home on the 11000 block of Moonlit Park.
Authorities say the fire broke out around 1:45 a.m.
Two people inside rushed out to safety after they heard smoke alarms going off.
When firefighters got there the home was engulfed in flames.
Authorities say the firefighters were hurt after debris came crashing down.
One firefighter was taken to the hospital in unknown condition.
The other two were treated at the scene.
A cause is under investigation.

No lesson plans means no state review for CSCOPE

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) -- The State Board of Education is scrapping its special panel to review a controversial curriculum system, after its creators agreed to stop offering lesson plans.
CSCOPE had helped teachers adhere to state educational requirements by offering Web-based lesson plans and exams.
But some conservatives claimed CSCOPE promoted anti-American values. That prompted the State Board of Education to create a committee to review CSCOPE's lesson plans, beginning with social studies.
CSCOPE's creators were working voluntarily with the committee. But amid continued complaints, they voted Friday to take down all online lesson plans effective Aug. 31.
Board of Education Chairwoman Barbara Gargill said Friday that makes the review "no longer necessary."
She said CSCOPE "has vividly shown what can happen with content when it is left unchecked and with limited parental access."
