Hurd case likely headed to trial
Former Brack and NFL star Sam Hurd seems destined to go to trial for a federal drug trafficking case, after the government added four additional charges earlier this week.
Hurd's attorney, Jay Ethington, tells Max Sports that Hurd, at this point, has "nothing to lose" by going to court.
There was talk between Hurd's attorneys and the government to reach some sort of plea agreement, but Ethington says Hurd will "no longer capitulate to the government's harsh terms because the charges against (Hurd) simply aren't true."
Ethington added, "We feel like Sam is being singled out to be treated much more harshly than what the evidence supports. Was he wrong in some of his conduct? Yes. Was he as wrong as what the government says? No. And I think the government knows it."
Hurd's trial was supposed to start on October 9th but Ethington says it will most likely be postponed because of the additional charges.
Hurd is scheduled to be arraigned on the new charges next week.
