No decision yet on whether SA will pursue Champions Bowl
SAN ANTONIO IS ONE OF 10 CITIES EXPLORING THE IDEA TO HOST THE BIG 12 AND SEC'S CHAMPIONS BOWL, AND/OR NATIONAL SEMI-FINAL PLAYOFF GAMES THAT START UP IN 2014,  BUT A FINAL DECISION ON WHETHER OR NOT TO PRESS FORWARD STILL HASN'T BEEN MADE.
ALAMO BOWL DIRECTOR DEREK FOX SAID HIS GROUP IS STILL LOOKING AT THE PROPOSAL AND THE COST OF DOING BUSINESS BEFORE THEY PRESENT THEIR FINDINGS TO THE BOWL BOARD EARLY NEXT WEEK.
A REQUEST FOR A PROPOSAL MUST BE COMPLETED BY AUGUST 22ND.
ESPN SAYS COWBOYS STADIUM IN ARLINGTON OR THE SUPER DOME IN NEW ORLEANS ARE THE "ODDS ON FAVORITES" TO HOST THE CHAMPIONS BOWL, TWO YEARS FROM NOW.
THE CHAMPIONS BOWL WAS CREATED BY THE SEC AND BIG 12 AS A POST-SEASON HOME FOR EACH LEAGUE'S FOOTBALL CHAMPIONS.
12 POST-SEASON GAMES ARE UP FOR BIDS; THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP SITE WILL BE BID ON SEPARATELY.
