COLLEGE BASKETBALL-RESULTS

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- John Wall scored seven of his 15 points in overtime, and No. 2 Kentucky rallied from five down with 2:28 left in regulation to beat Mississippi State 75-74.

The win is the Wildcats' 26th Southeastern Conference tournament championship.

The Wildcats blew earlier chances with their fabulous freshmen Wall and DeMarcus Cousins missing free throws and making youthful mistakes. But they came through at the end as Cousins' layup off Wall's missed 3-pointer from the right corner beat the regulation buzzer to give them some extra time.

Elsewhere in college hoops:

-- No. 4 Duke has captured another Atlantic Coast Conference title, beating Georgia Tech 65-61. It's the Blue Devils' 18th ACC title, a league record. Kyle Singler scored 20 points and Jon Scheyer hit a critical 3-pointer with 18 seconds left to ice the win.

UNDATED (AP) -- It's Selection Sunday, and the NCAA announces the 65-team tournament field at 6 p.m. Eastern. Kansas, Kentucky and Syracuse are believed to have the inside track for No. 1 seeds in their regions, but the fourth No. 1 seed is really anyone's guess.

NHL-SCHEDULE

CHICAGO (AP) -- They lost their superstar but they won the game.

Nicklas Backstrom led the Washington Capitals to a come-from-behind, 4-3 victory over the Blackhawks in Chicago, scoring the winner a little more than 3 minutes into overtime.

The Capitals completed the remarkable comeback without Alex Ovechkin. The NHL scoring leader was tossed out of the game in the first period, with a five-minute major and a game misconduct for driving Chicago's Brian Campbell into the boards from behind. Campbell stayed down for several minutes before he was able to leave the ice and head to the locker room with a trainer at his side.

Washington fell behind 3-0 after two periods but rallied with a quick three-goal spurt in the final period to tie the game, showing why it has the NHL's top record and ranks as the highest scoring team in the league.

The rest of the NHL schedule features three other matinees. Colorado is at Dallas, Nashville visits L.A. and the Flyers play the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden.

Later, Toronto visits the New York Islanders, Tampa Bay is home against Pittsburgh, Minnesota hosts St. Louis, the Sharks face off against the Ducks in Anaheim and Calgary is at Vancouver in a late game.

NBA-SCHEDULE

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- The Milwaukee Bucks are trying to hold on against the visiting Indiana Pacers.

Late in the fourth quarter, the Bucks are up by 6. It's the first of 8 NBA games today.

Elsewhere on the pro hardwood:

-- The marquee matchup will be played in Cleveland, where the Boston Celtics face LeBron James and the Cavaliers. Both sit comfortably atop their divisions. The Cavs own a three-game lead over the L.A. Lakers in the race for the best overall record in the NBA.

-- Orlando looks to squash the hopes of a team pushing for its first-ever playoff berth, when the Magic host the Charlotte Bobcats.

In the West, the two teams trying to catch Denver are in action in Oklahoma City, where the Utah Jazz visit the Thunder.

The rest of the schedule has Indiana at Milwaukee, Philadelphia in Miami, Minnesota traveling to Sacramento, Toronto at Portland and New Orleans visiting Phoenix.

NFL-NEWS

NEW YORK (AP) -- Jets coach Rex Ryan has undergone a weight-loss procedure to help him fight obesity.

A team spokesman tells The Associated Press that Ryan had lap-band surgery and a hernia repair yesterday at NYU Medical Center and is relaxing at his New Jersey home.

The 47-year-old Ryan has frequently poked fun at himself and his rotund midsection, including after unflattering belly-baring photos of him changing into a jersey during a Florida-Carolina NHL game floated around the Internet.

Ryan gained at least 30 pounds after the Jets hired him in January 2009. He weighed 340 pounds at the start of last season.

GOLF

DORAL, Fla. (AP) -- South Africans Ernie Els and Charl Schwartzel are best of friends most of the year. But today at Doral Country Club in Miami, they will be trying to beat each other for a $1 million first-place check at the World Golf Championship event. They're tied at 12 under par entering the final round of the CA championship at Doral. Ireland's Padraig Harrington is one shot back with Australian Robert Allenby two back entering the final 18 holes.

RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico (AP) -- Chad Collins tops the Puerto Rico Open leaderboard at 9 under before second-round play was suspended because of darkness yesterday in the rain-delayed PGA Tour event. Paul Stankowski, Jeff Overton and Jhonattan Vegas are one shot back during various stages of their second round.

MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) -- Taiwan's Yani Tseng has won the Women's Australian Open. The sixth-ranked Tseng birdied seven of the last 12 holes for a bogey-free 7-under 66 and a three-stroke victory over 2009 winner Laura Davies.
