FAMILY AND FRIENDS ARE MOURNING THE LOSS OF DAVID EDWARDS. EDWARDS DIED WEDNESDAY JUST AFTER 1 P.M. HE WOULD HAVE TURNED 21 THIS WEEKEND. EDWARDS HAD BEEN IN A COMA AT NORTHEAST METHODIST HOSPITAL SINCE MONDAY. HE SUFFERED MAJOR SPINAL CORD INJURIES AFTER A HIT IN A FOOTBALL GAME AGAINST AUSTIN WESTLAKE HIGH SCHOOL IN NOVEMBER 2003. IN THE FOLLOWING YEARS, DAVID WORKED AS A MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKER AND OFTEN SHOWED UP ON THE MADISON SIDELINES TO INSPIRE THE MAVERICKS FOOTBALL TEAMS. SERVICES FOR EDWARDS ARE STILL PENDING. A SPECIAL MEMORIAL IS PLANNED FOR DAVID THIS SUNDAY AT 4 P.M. AT LITTLETON GYM IN THE BLOSSOM ATHLETIC CENTER ON JONES MALTSBERGER. THE PUBLIC IS INVITED TO ATTEND.
