Former U.S. House Speaker and GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich told the crowd that the Eagle Ford Shale is creating jobs that are helping make America energy independent. We're already the largest gas producer in the world," said Gingrich. "With the right policies we could be the largest oil producer in the world and if you counted in Canada and Mexico there's no reason we couldn't be independent of the Middle East and independent of Venezuela." Gingrich also emphasized that GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney has better energy plans than President Barack Obama.
