One of two living Medal of Honor recipients from the wars in
Afghanistan and Iraq visited
Fort Sam Houston Wednesday.
Army Sergeant First Class Leroy Petry lost his
right hand after throwing a grenade away from the danger of his fellow Rangers in
Afghanistan. Petry was also shot through both of his thighs during the
attack, which occurred Memorial Day in 2008.
The 32-year-old’s hand was
amputated and he later received a new one and treatment at Brooke Army
