Was David Stern justified in fining the Spurs for resting their starters?

Comment: This is a disgrace to the game of basketball, and to the best organization (and coach) in all of sport. by Alan
Comment: Coaches should have complete authority over their team and its players. Commissioner Stern cannot possibly justify sanctioning Pop and the Spurs just because the game was televised on TNT (not NBC CBS or FOX mind you!) That is way too much authority on Stern's part. I mean, what's next? Where do you draw the line of authority? by Dee
Comment: I think the fine was going a little to far but its also pops fault for sending the players home. He did not have to play them if he didn't want but not by sending them home. It's not fair to the other players . Just my thought. by jimmy
Comment: Since when does Stern get to tell any NBA coach who he should play? I guess now he can decide how many minutes each player plays. Pop's job is to make choices to keep his players healthy to win games, not to be an intertainer. Why dont we just put in the Harlem Globetrotters? Is that the entertainment Stern wants? by Susan
Comment: He's an idiot (for lack of other words)! The bench still gave them a run, and they need healthy players for when they make it to the Finals. by Stephanie Marie
Comment: What's it to him? by Patty
Comment: No David Stern was not justified. I understand the game was nationally televised but we as a unit were coming off of 4 games in 5 nights and this was a 10day road trip. A lot of people dont understand that the HEAT sat their big 3 earlier this year against the HAWKS which was televised and nothing like this was done... by Kenneth
Comment: With the back to back games all season it only makes sense to sit your "Big Three" to prevent injury and fatigue. by Mark
Comment: It's ridiculous...maybe they should consider making changes to the nba schedules and coaches wouldn't have to make these kind of decisions. He's looking out for the players and I'm 100% behind his decision!!! by Joann
Comment: That is so stupid! It's as if he's trying to be the coach and the commissioner and that is wrong! Someone needs to fine him for stupidity because as Ron White says, "You can't fix stupid!" by Diana
Comment: But it should have been $500K, I feel sorry for the fans that go to watch the stars... by Randy
Comment: All I can see is Stern's hatred of the Spurs that he has made no bones about. Taking every opportunity to slam the spurs just look at the record, it is pretty public. If he had his way only LA, NYC and Miami would comprise the NBA. I especially like the part about what about the fans! Please, where was he last year at the strike season, no what about the fans talk then. I can only put it one way, WHAT AN ASS!! by Ray
Comment: sterns an idiot by rudy
Comment: Stern is an idiot interested only in money, not basketball! by Don
