Should You be Allowed to Drive 85mph on All Texas Roads?
| 48.57% | YES | |
| 51.42% | NO |
Comment: Whatever the speed limit is, the general public normally exceeds it by 10 or more. Think if it were 85...there would be people going 95. The state is just asking for more fatal accidents by doing this. by Raven
Comment: No way! Way to many driving deaths as it is. 75 mph is totally fine. Whatever the speed limit is, people will just want to go faster then it. If it is set to 85, people will abuse it and drive in the 90's by jeff
Comment: I don't think it should be allowed. It's already dangerous out on the road with careless drivers. With speeds like this, I don't want to imagine how it will be then. by Gloria
Comment: Higher speed limit means most drivers will drive faster causing more wrecks, and some will drive slower to afford the heavy speeders. by Dorothy
Comment: the people in san antonio drive like they are crazy now higher speed limits will just end up killing more people by tom
Comment: Yes we should be able to drive that toll road at those speeds. I've been on it and there is literally no traffic on it. I avoid Austin all all costs! by Patty
Comment: 80 TO 85 MPH will be the best. by YESSICA
Comment: In Colorado the speed limit is 80 or better, I know some San Antonians can't drive because of vehicle or other issues. by Frank
Comment: People cannot think that fastI could say more, but you would not like it. P by Paco
Comment: If you get in an accident your chances of fatality are extremely increased. Anyone who thinks that we should be allowed to drive that fast does not clearly understand the type of destruction that can occur as speed is increased in motor vechicle accidents. by Tiffany
Comment: The only folks stupid enough to drive 85 are the last people who should. It is patently unsafe and the carnage is bad enough at current speeds, we don't need to add exponentially to that figure. by J
Comment: 85 mph would be a safe speed limit on Texas interstates IF there was an ENFORCED LAW penalizing those that continuously drive in the LEFT/PASSING lane. Other countries/states, that enforce LEFT LANE FOR PASSING ONLY are much safer than in the U.S/TX. Being a commercial truck driver - I see driver's here in Texas more commonly WON'T move back over to the middle or right lane once they're in the left lane, causing people behind them to pass on the right! Passing on the right is one of the most dangerous maneuvers for any driver to contend-with at highway speeds. Passing on the right is even more dangerous than driving at an increased speed. by Daniel
Comment: High speeds kill. They also need to add a minimum speed limit on our freeways just like other states do. by Ken
Comment: People already go about 5-10 mph over the limit so being at 85 will just let them think it's ok to go 5-10 mph over that that leaves us with people going almost 100mph... no thank you. by Stacy
Comment: I believe there will be an increase in accidents. If someone has a blowout or has to make a sudden stop, it could be very bad. by Beatrice
Comment: Nooooo. People here cant even drive 2 mph. They are asking for chaos by Jessica
Comment: Too many accidents and stupid drivers already this will make things worse. by Maria
Comment: The higher the speed, the slower the reaction time, the faster things can go horribly wrong. One twitch of the steering well can change so many lives forever. Personally, I don't think it's safe. by Katrina
Comment: No more speeding tickets...thank god.. by Jaclyn
Comment: I do care about 85 cuz theres alot of people who dont care about drinking and driving and texting and talking on da cell phone. I worry all the inocent people especially the kids. If san antonio people's were more carefully then no problem but here in san antonio there's no respect for each other by stephanie
Comment: Are you kidding me? I pray everyday I have to drive on 410 or 281 with all the nut jobs on the road here.
Comment: That's stupid don't they see how many fatalities there are now can you imagine how many they'll be at that speed no way.... by Veronica
