Should law enforcement officers get paid for exercising?

35.41% Yes
62.5% No

Comment: I dont they should while they get fit... if they do then all employers should pay their employees to keep fit... like firefighter, doctors, judges and so forth... keeping healthy and fit is completely seperate from our jobs... by DJ

Comment: i think law enforcement offices should be in shape and be held to certain physical fitness standards though out there career and if they can not meet the standards they should be of the street and placed to a more suitable position by tony

Comment: its up to them to stay in shape or not.why should we the people waste our tax money. by greg

Comment: I don't think that they should get paid. It should be paid on their own or if paid the gym then the money should be deducted from their paycheck. by Lily

Comment: They already get paid!! It's part of their job to be physically fit and they need to modify their lives to perform their duties, but not at taxpayers expense. They knew what they signed up for. by Molly

Comment: They should get paid to do their job (Serve and Protect). I don't think exercising is part of their job description. If they get paid to exercise, then employees nationwide should get paid too. by George

Comment: YES by LD

Comment: that's the job they choose well knowing they should be in shape. if they should get paid to get fit i say others need just as much if not more, like er personel etc... my son is in the navy as well and that's different he's serving his country,,,it's not only a job, like police officers... by rosalinda

Comment: It should be mandatory. by Joe

Comment: They should have to meet a weight requirement annually and heck no, we shouldn't pay for it. If they are overweight they don't qualify for the job any longer and are lucky to still have their jobs.

Comment: Absolutely not! Everyone else that works has to pay for gym memberships and so should they. They knew that they were supposed to be and continue to be physically fit when they took the job. by James

Comment: If it is only 4 hours per month that they would get paid, than that's not a big deal...these are people who always put their lives on the line for strangers..yeah we know they get paid for it and that's what they signed up for, but we should all be counting our blessings they did! Thanks to all who protect us!! by Tina

Comment: They should most definitely get time during their work time to be physically fit. The Armed Services provides the Service Members, 3 hours a week (1 hour a day for 3 days of the week) to maintain their physical fitness. If we are going to have our Armed Services be physically fit, to fight for our country (outside of the country), we should have our protectors, inside the country be physically fit. by Wayne

Comment: that is part of their job. is to be fit for work. by heike

Comment: Why would they get paid to exercise? I don't!! It should be a mandatory(TESTED) part of their job description to stay in shape. In the Military we had to take PT tests, and had to attend PT sessions every workday. We didn't get paid anymore for doing it either. Drop the doughnuts and pick-up the dumbells.. and by dumbell I don't mean me! by Vagrant

Comment: Policeman are individuals who we depend on to be physically fit and prepared to perform strenuous task if required. We should provide them the opportunity to maintain that fitness during their duty hours. But I also feel it should be organized and supervised. We owe them this much for putting their lives on the line every day. Tony by Anthony

Comment: Law enforcement should exercise on their on time and on their own dime. Why should the city pay for their obesity? The tax payers have enough financial burden!! by Luis

Comment: No way...they should be in shape already and if they are not, they should be fired! This is the most ludicrous thing I've ever heard and a blatant disregard for taxpayer money, period! The sheriff should be thrown out of office for even thinking of such stupidity. by Javier

Comment: Military personnel get paid to exercise, so why shouldn't law enforcement officers get paid as well? by Liz

Comment: Absolutely Not. That should be a personal option. If you want to be in shape, then it should come from their own pocket. The Military dont get paid for staying in shape. They are expected to stay in shape. So should the police officers. by Lupe
