Do you think a mosque should be built near Ground Zero in New York?

17.14% Yes
81.42% No

Comment: Total slap in the face to not only everyone who had someone lose their life in 9/11, but those who helped with 9/11 and our Military members who are fighting as a direct result of 9/11. It is disrespectful to even think about building a mosque so close to such sacred ground. Nobody wants to go visit the place where their loved ones were killed or injured and look over and see a place of worship for the religion that did this to their family. I know do not hold all Muslims responsible but it is still a huge disrespect. by Kaitlyn

Comment: Show some RESPECT for those who lost their lives...

Comment: freedom is a beautiful thing.

Comment: and then they should let the KKK build a cross and the Nazi's build ovens. Why not? Same type of people. by Snoop

Comment: no I believe it is very insensitive to build a mosque that close to ground zero since in all honesty we are still in a war with muslims over in iraq and even if the ones here in america had nothing to do with the towers out of respect of the dead they should build somewhere else or not at all by Melinda

Comment: Not at all, I fully agree that anyone from any religion should be able to practice that religion but not a mosque at the 9/11 site. That's disrespectful to the memory of every person that died at that location. I can't believe our current president would have the gall to suggest something like that should be done. by nicholas

Comment: To allow the mosque to be built so close to ground zero would be a travesty. Regardless of our religious freedoms, it would be too painful to allow something like this to be built, considering the 911 attackers were muslim. by Randy

Comment: NO ... POSITIVELY NO...NO WAY..What a terrible thing for the people of New York City have to look at every day...FREEDOM OF RELIGION should stop there... by Anne

Comment: I feel if they want to pray and worship they're beliefs, they can do it in their own country or in their own home. Not on American soil! by Christina

Comment: how disrespectful can you get?? by paula

Comment: NO WAY! by Donald

Comment: Retired military opinion. The radicals in the aircraft were Muslims. I have no problem with moderate Muslims worshiping wherever, but it is suspicious that this group wants a place of worship so close to a sensitive area to US citizens, a Cristian Country by Gerald

Comment: Only someone who hates America and its innocent victims, its fire fighters and its police officers would advocate such a thing. by Steve

Comment: All religions should be treated equally. by Gordon

Comment: Muslims want tolerance from everyone but are totally intollerant of all other religions. It doesn't take a genius to know that if they continue to push for the project they will look very bad to the majority of non-Muslims in the U.S. by Mike

Comment: First they kill our people and then they want consideration. Kick them out out of this country!!!!!! by Ruth

Comment: sometimes you have to voice obections, and not use the " pollitically correct politician card " and put yourself in the shoes of those who sacraficed and say no! Two blocks...come on thats muslim arrogance and insensitivity. by henry

Comment: Absolutely not. Historically, mosques have been erected over the sites of Muslim victories. The fact that a mosque has been planned for construction at the site of one of the most terroristic attacks on America is a slap in the face by Jennifer

Comment: No, it is just plain insensitive to the families of those killed by Muslim Terrorism on 911. It is also insensitive to all Americans across this great land. It might have happened in New York City but most Americans feel like New York is part of their hometown too. by Carlton

Comment: President Obama's comments were offensive. Where is the respect for all lives lost at the hands of muslims. That will be a slap in the face to those families and all americans. by Lupe

Comment: Why are we even having this discussion? Muslims enjoy the right, America grants them, to practice their religion in America. The believers in Jesus are the ones who fought for this country. How many Muslims died in the American Revolution? Think about it. Don't we get to have a country? How many churches do you see in Iran? by Jennifer

Comment: May as well build a hitler youth training center at the holocaust museum by Robin

Comment: I believe in freedom of religion, but I feel a lot of people would be hurt by this action. Perhaps, they should build a museum honoring the fallen. A religious place there could cause violence, and we should try to keep peace in a world full of violence. by Nidia

Comment: Why not put an SS symbol in the National Cemetery . by Charles

Comment: We are involved in a war of wills with an enemy that is working from within our system , trying to use our very own constitutional rights and freedoms to subdue and enslave us.I for one will fight to the end against them. Where do you stand? What about us inviting a few primitive tribes of cannibals and head hunters to come and and practice their religion here ? Great idea , right ? After all , we do believe in freedom of religion , DON'T WE ? IF YOU HAVE ANY DOUBT just remember ,if you can ,WACO TEXAS and the Branch Davidians , and don't forget the Morman group with the multiple child brides. Are the muslims any better?? I am an agnostic , an equal opportunity doubter, and I object to these people even being here based on their past behavior in other countries , and on their intentions for our country. We do not need their weird sharia laws and beliefs in our country." by James

Comment: I hate everyone! by Daisy

Comment: Bill of Rights... Amendment I Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. 911 affected everyone in this country and every religion... including the muslim. by Valerie

Comment: People say Obama isn't defending our constitution by supporting the mosque being built. Doesn't the constitution say we have freedom of religion? 1. They own the property. 2. Not all muslims are anti-America. by Reece

Comment: The "Cordoba House" is a triumphalist, provocative statement. Obviously it CAN be built but it SHOULD not. by Bob

Comment: That is sacred ground and I don't want the mosque to be built near Ground Zero in New York. Religion & Politics don't mix by Dorothy

Comment: It would only serve as a monument to terrorists and is the ultimate insult to the families and loved ones and to all Americans. by Michael

Comment: Repent America! This is idolatry, not only offensive and insensitive to families of 9/11 victims and all NYer's with a conscience. We are called to worship and serve our Creator, in accordance with the way He reveals Himself in the Holy Bible, not the idols of false religion. No King but Christ Jesus! by Wendy

Comment: i figure with a masjid near the site when it gets rebuilt if ever they will think twice about attacking again since it will affect a place of worship for them. by mark

Comment: Everyone in America has a right to practice whatever religion they choose to, but to build a mosque near Ground Zero would be a slap in the face to the memory of those who died in the Twin Towers. Not only that, but I think there would be some idiot who would try to make his/her point by violent means. by Stella G

Comment: I understand that extremist dealt us the 9-11 hand, and it is not fair to lump all muslims into that memory of that horrible day, however I do feel like this is an act of someone trying to see just how far they push. What a smack in the face for all Americans. by Tracey

Comment: It's disrepectful to everyone that lost there life that day! by Lisa
