Should General Stanley McChrystal be fired for disparaging comments he made about the White House?

11.62% Yes
88.37% No

Comment: I think he's right!! Yes, sadly he's supposed to be backing up the commander in chief as a member of the military, but I think he's right!! He's saying what most americans are thinking!! by chris

Comment: It's freedom of speech! by Nicole

Comment: Obama needs to quit crying and let the general do his job!

Comment: HE SHOULD VERY MUCH BE LET GO AND IT IS REALLY TIME FOR HIM TO GO. WHEN YOU FEEL YOU ARE BETTER THAN YOUR BOSS IT IS TIME FOR RETIREMENT by HARRY S

Comment: They should give the general a medal for standing up to Obama. Is Obama really the commander in chief? by Joe

Comment: There is a reason for this, and someone should listen to him regarding this war. by Sandra

Comment: It is a shame that a general can't exercise self control and tact. A high ranking military official should know better. Gen. McChrystal has set a poor example for his troops. by S.

Comment: I don't believe that he should be fired, what do the amendments say about freedom of speech? If we were to fire everyone who has said something disparagingly who truly would still be working and or in office? by Kristin

Comment: Why should he be fired? Because he disagrees with the president? So What! If he has failed to follow orders then he should be fired. Not because he disagreed with the president. So much for our freedom! Thanks Obama! Now no one can disagree because we will lose our job.

Comment: Absolutely not!! Since when is it a crime to say what you think?? Ever hear of the 1st amendment??

Comment: The White House can't handle the Truth.

Comment: I admire the General for his comments, which are probably true, but not the manner in which they were presented. by Clark

Comment: He has a right to voice his opinion, even if it is against the administration. Obama has never served, and doesn't know anything about military strategy. by Shanna

Comment: The White House needs to let the Commanders on the ground make the decisions. The White House has no clue what is going on as they are not there. It is time the Bureaucrats let the Commanders do what they are trained to do!!!! Disabled Vet US Army by William

Comment: The General called it like he saw it. Obama should be the one that's fired. by mike

Comment: no, the general should not be fired. those are his comments and he still has first amendment rights as a general. the one that needs to be fired is that illegal alien in the white house that calls himself President of the United States by steve

Comment: The General is obviously not getting enough of the support or help he needs to lead our troops. The military is not about "sugar coating" the truth. He must do whatever is needed for our soldiers' safety. It's impossible for Obama to relate to a General, or a Private, because he has yet to walk in their boots. by Diana

Comment: He should be able to speak his mind freely. by Izzy

Comment: Yes he should be fired. The Commander in Chief, the military secretaries and Chief of Staffs should be shown the up most respect from all of their subordinates.

Comment: The General is on the front lines and knows better then anyone sitting in an office what our troops need. Granted the General should not voice his concerns in The Rolling Stone. I am sure he was caught up in the moment and The Rolling Stone interviewer, charming and feeding the excitement, managed to gain the General’s trust. Keep in mind, any person in a position of leadership whom has to repeatedly ask for assistance with little or no relief should not be viewed as wrong for making it known, if this is not true then let be known. Therefore, this clarity should not be utilized as a reason for termination. by An Army

Comment: The general is honoring the oath he took when he became a Soldier. He has acted in good faith as a professional soldier by James

Comment: I think that all he said was true. The person that should be fired is Obama. When he was campaigning he stated that he would listen to his commanders on the ground. So far that has not happened. Either win the war or bring our servicemen and women home. by John

Comment: He is there. He knows the situation. The fools in the White House do not have a clue. by Steve

Comment: Obama fired previous commander in charge of Afghan war & replaced him with McChrystal. And now he wants to fire McChrystal. Just because McChrystal doesn't agree with Obama concerning the Afghan war does not warrant McChrystal being fired. by Norma

Comment: We need the general to win this war on terror! by Sheila

Comment: He should loose his job. As a former military person, we are trained not to speak publicly against the military or the people in charge of us and he being a top ranking officer knows better. He doesn't have an excuse to air out dirty laundry if it were an enlisted person there would have been military punishment against that person. It is time that the officers in charge be held accountable for their actions and face some type of punishment for their actions. If he is fired he will end up getting a job that will make him money like news commentating or adviser that will make him a 3 figure salary and that is not fair to the men and women who are over there doing their jobs and keeping their mouths shut. by Isaac

Comment: he should get a raise

Comment: The General should not have interviewed with that liberal publication. Even that is not a firing offense for a great soldier and protector of our country. by Michael

Comment: He certainly could be, but he shouldn't. Victory in Afghanistan is more important. by Bob
