Comment: My answer's half and half. I think yes for restaurants-- even with attached bars. But no for bars and pool halls and places like that. People should know those are places for smokers. by Ken

Comment: I am a smoker- not a chain-smoker but i like to enjoy a cigarette after eating. But I think we as smokes should be ablt to go to a bar and smoke -i dont do bars anymore but i think thats the appropriate place for smoking. Besides we are not living in a communist country. by herlinda

Comment: yes i do believe san antonio should pass tougher no smoking rules there is to many young kids out there that i see everyday with cigarettes in their mouth if it were up to me i would ban cigarettes and stop selling them period. by veronica

Comment: I think SA should concentrate more on cell phone usage & driving & the homeless which I feel are more important. by Pam

Comment: Bars and nightclubs need to be left alone when it comes to the smoking ordinance. No smoking in restaraunts and city buildings is fine. We need to get a grip on what rules are really needed and what rules are just a way of discrimination. Smoking can kill just like drinking or eating processed foods. We don't have to follow other states just because everyone is now coming here to S.A. by Armendariz

Comment: it's bad for the second hand non smokers by roy

Comment: Most cities that have enacted a tough smoking ban have not experienced lessened business patronage. In fact, I would be inclined to go back to some of my favorite places if smoking was not allowed. by Hank

Comment: There's better things to worry about..Wheres cigarette smokers rights! by F.

Comment: I personally do not go to places where I smell smoke. Non-smoking sections in restuarants, where bars are also located do not work. I know others who also avoid these type of restuarants. by Dan

Comment: There should be NO smoking in any public facility, and no smoking directly outside of the entrance to any facility. I hate having to go threw a group of smokers with my toddler to get into a mall or theater, or where ever. by Jessie

Comment: I think it should be up to business owners whether or not they would allow smoking in their establishment. by Andrew

Comment: I frequently travel to Austin and Houston to hang out with friends because the bars there are non smoking establishments. If San Antonio had smoke free places, I might stay and spend my money at home. by Mark

Comment: If I want to live in a nanny state I'll move to California. This is exactly why I would never vote for a full time city council. Between this and pasties it it is obvious they spend too much time downtown as it is. by Robert

Comment: good for health by gerald

Comment: I'm sick of trying to enjoy a breeze while driving only to inhale that garbage... they should drive with the windows of their cars closed if they really want to smoke and NOT toss those buds in the street, keep it in your cars and enjoy the smell! by j

Comment: The President smokes in the White House.I am not a smoker so if Obama can smoke anywhere then stop all these ridiculous laws. by Frank

Comment: Texans should be free of smoke in places where they have no choice to be or not. Otherwise the smoking status should be posted, and we should be free to choose. by Robert

Comment: smokers have the right to smoke just as non-smokers have the right to not smoke.this a matter of common courtesy.if you smoke should you try to do it in such way so as not offend non-smokers.I,mean we have criminals as it is,we don't need to create anymore.perhaps some compromise can be reached. by don

Comment: i hate to smell smoke by Rebecca

Comment: Many San Antonio establishments are completely non smoking and do just fine in the money making. The Flying Saucer is and always has been non smoking and it so packed every single night. Smoke outside ONLY - enough said. by justin

Comment: I think smoking should be banned from all indoor arenas I am allergic and my daughter has asthma so we cannot go anywhere there is smoke indoors. It is not good for anyone, cancer, ect. Those who must smoke can go outside. by Andrea

Comment: The city stinks of smoke everywhere, every bar, it is a heath risk and makes you try to relax or have a drink. OR use smoke cleaners and the bar should have to pay to clean my clothes. by Al

Comment: The most wonderful thing about America is the freedom of choice. If someone is smoking you have the choice to move. If you want to kill yourself smoking that is your choice as well. Everything kills, hurts or affects you in someway. Therefor who is to say what to protect us from it's our choice what we protect ourselves from. by Dallas

Comment: First they ruined Austin now your aiming for San Antonio whats next Brownsville give us our FREEDOM. We don't take your coffee away even though caffiene is addicting. If you like burgers we don't make them illegal even though they kill you. In fact Lets make BEER illegal why were at it because that kills way more people. and Sugar for diabetes because thats killing a lot of people. Realistcally worry about you! There is using and abusing and that is for the people to decide by Carissa
