Comment: The Flambeau Parade is a Family Event for the family of the ESCOBEDO'S of San Antonio. For many years we've been sitting on Commerce & Soledad, right in front of Lucky's corner store, the bridge/riverwalk. And for the past 5 years I've made it a tradition to do something-I'm sure no other individual, etc, does. Most of our family members graduated from JOHN F. KENNEDY HIGH SCHOOL-HOME OF THE ROCKETS! And when the MIGHTY ROCKET BAND/CHEERLEADERS pass us by, we do something very unique! So with this, I've always wanted to INVITE YOU GUYS-THE MEDIA to come witness our style of Celebrating FIESTA! This year we will continue with a BIGGER BANG! PLEASE SEND OUT A CREW to WITNESS THIS EXTRA-ORDINARY EVENT! BUt they must be there when KENNEDY passes us by. Every year I create it bigger and better. I won't reveal our UNIQUE event. It's worth the story. I'm Richard Escobedo from San Antonio, Texas. I graduated in 1982, and was a PROUD member of the MIGHTY ROCKET BAND all 4 years. I get so EXCITED to see the band coming down commerce street. Especailly when my nephews and necieces yell out, "Uncle, Richie...KENNEDY'S coming!!!" It's like bedlam erupts and(PLEASE, PLEASE make it more specail this year and come see what I'm talking about, more so because my cousin flew in to San Antonio from Detroit, Mich. to celebrate his first FIESTA!). FYI, And in 2007 I organized the "JFK Band Alumni" group. We are a voluntary group primarily to raise money to assist graduating band seniors with financial assistance for their future. Last year we awarded our first ever Scholarship of $1000 to Maria Villasenor. PLEASE come out to witness what San Antonio/world is missing out at the Fiesta Flambeau Parade. Also can you Please forward this to your news personnel that is announcing the floats and High Schools. McCollum High School received First Place at the Battle of The Bands for 2010.
