Do you support the current health care bill in front of Congress?
| 44.98% | Yes | |
| 55.01% | No |
Comment: Nobody wants it. if it was such a great idea why won't Congress use it and why do you have to bribe people to get votes. Health Insurance is a choice not a right. This bill isn't about health care it is about control our freedoms and trying to give the government control over what we can and cannot eat. it is a power grab by elitist who need to be voted out by Ken
Comment: This bill is supposedly going to help me because I am technically the working poor. But I want nothing to do with it. The resulting fallout of debt will cripple me and my fellow Americans for years to come through taxes, and when I am done with college making more income, what happens then? And what makes them think they can run health care when the Post Office is poorly managed. by John
Comment: nothing should be ramroded thru like they are trying to do this by Rebecca
Comment: Yes I do, but i think that EVERYONE MUST and SHOULD be required to perform a ROLL CALL VOTE by Dan

Comment: There are too many hidden agendas in the bill and with all the other spending by congress we are looking at bankruptcy. by Ken
Comment: The government already runs Medicare and Medicaid and look what a wreck that has been...Scrap the Bill by shane
Comment: No one knows the entire scope of what "pork" this bill contains; not even the people trying to push it through. by Annelise
Comment: Yes. There are people out there who work every day of their lives, and are either not provided by their employers with health insurance, or cannot afford it on their own. We need health care for ALL PEOPLE, not just for those who have a stable job and money. by Kristen
Comment: Too many people need help for our government to stop this now. Republicans, be more than the party of NO--be a party that helps the people! by Amy
Comment: We cannot afford to do nothing! by Catherine
Comment: Worst piece of legislation in history. An effort to ram through a bill that the nation does not want. by Loren
Comment: It does not represent the desires of the American people... At least the American people who will be paying the taxes to foot the bill. Healthcare reform is needed, a Universal Healthcare provision is NOT. by Enrique
Comment: Obviously the wrong plan for America when even the folks that want to vote for it don't want to vote directly for it. Need tort and Medicare reform, not this bill! by Joe
Comment: I consider this to be a justice issue to ensure that as many people as possible have access to affordable healthcare regardless of economic position. by Karl
Comment: We don't have the money. Eliminate $500 Billion from Medicare; it will not happen! by George
Comment: There are too many hidden agendas in the bill and with all the other spending by congress we are looking at bankruptcy. by Ken
Comment: cost to much in the long run. by Susan
Comment: To costly and I don't want government running my heath care. I'd like to live as long as God wishes me to, not the Government. by Janet
Comment: If it passes, it will put the country more in debt. As well as put bureaucrats between patients and their doctors. by carlos
Comment: It is a terrible bill and meant as a power grab, not as legitimate reform of the health sector. It will bankrupt the country. by Claudia
Comment: Do it right, or do not do it at all! No special deals for some and nothing for others. No twisting the rules to hide the truth! by Kathy
Comment: A bad bill for all. Start over and make it simple to cover all. It should also replace the health plan covering Congress. My wife is a nurse and a registered Democrat who is now voting Republican. by Michael
Comment: As if the democrats underhanded tactics isn't enough, it's just the first step into Obamas socialist agenda. by Raymond
Comment: "A government big enough to give you everything you want is a government big enough to take from you everything you have." -Gerald Ford by James
Comment: It will not work. We need less government not more. by Connie
Comment: This bill will plunge America into the worst health crisis imaginable. By cutting medicare in half, thousands of elderly will die long before their time. Of course, that's the objective. by Harry
Comment: Yes, it needs to be made affordable for those of us who make such little money. It's time to make America fair, and quit letting the rich get richer, which includes The Health Care System. by Mike
Comment: It is criminal for congress to sneak this trash thru by David
Comment: any vote for a bill that 6 out of 10 Americans oppose truly reflects just how far this Congress has strayed from representing their constituents. I consider any vote for this legislation the same as that member of Congress submitting their resignation. by David
Comment: It is a travesty against the American People. It is government acting for the people not of the people and by the people. The loud minority supporting the bill do not know what is in the bill and nothing more than liberal Democratic parrots. by Gene
Comment: They are not being truthful about everything in the bill and how many people will go without much needed services. It also has not shown how many jobs will be lost and small businesses closing it doors.
Comment: I think we pay to much for to many people already taking advantage of current government programs. SSI Housing and food stamps "lone star card" are all being abused and I am tired of paying for their abuse. Maybe we should reform those current programs before we throw more money at their fictional problems. Like a mandatory urine test for people who use our social programs. If you pop then you lose. I'm sure after a while we would save a bunch of money. by Josh
Comment: both the bill and the process are unconstitutional by jay
Comment: Yes, I definitely support it. I am a breast cancer survivor who can not afford to have insurance right now and having pre-existing conditions limits my health care coverage. by Mary
Comment: I really don't know any of the provisions in the bill, but the fact is we need a national health care system, and we have got to start somewhere. Whatever they have come up with -- and I confess I don't want to put any energy into researching it -- should be a good start. We can fix it later if it is broke. Even architecture had to be Baroque before it became modern. Let's start where we can. by Louis
Comment: Stop Obama's march toward socialism!! He wants to turn America into Cuba. by Charles
Comment: It's important because the current healthcare system is broken for everyone. Just ask doctors who can't figure out health insurance companies. by Irene
Comment: Absolutely not! And what they're trying to do by "deeming it passed" is a slap in the face of the American people. Our representatives are there to vote, not be Pelosi's pawns. by Rebecca
Comment: Absolutely NO! 875 billion more dollars Obama wants to get us in more debt over, with a bill forcing people to get health care or fine them, and then if they can't pay the fine, put them in jail for five years! He is a lunatic. If people could afford it they would get health care already. Informed and intelligent people know that he is trying to destroy this country and all the people in it, and what he cannot destroy he wants to control. And for his information despite what he says, America IS still a Christian nation, he does NOT speak for the majority, and proves that again and again everyday! by Angel
Comment: Too expensive and spending money we do not have. We will all suffer the expense for the few that do not have coverage. More important issues like jobs should be addressed. by Cris
Comment: yes, absolutely--- the peoples needs should be front and center, not the insurance co.'s profits. the polititians that are against this, have the lobbyist and insurance companies deep in their pockets. Greed should have no place here--they need to think of their constituents needs and how to better our lives, not how to pad their pockets or campaign trunks. by grace
Comment: Every American would be required to buy an insurance policy that meets certain government requirements. Even individuals who are currently insured — and happy with their insurance — will have to switch to insurance that meets the government's definition of "acceptable insurance." Finally, the government would subsidize and manage the development of a national system of electronic medical records. Worried about your privacy? by Andrew
Comment: socialism by Anthony
Comment: The government NEVER does a good in anything they manage. We need to just let everyone have NO INSURANCE. That is a better plan. REALLY YOU CAN NEVER MAKE EVERYONE EQUAL...People make choices--that's why alot of people do not have insurance. by Louise
Comment: Health care needs reform, this is the start. If you are a family of 4 making less than $45,000 a year, this will cut your insurance costs in half. If you are making above $70,000, then you probably already have private health care and you wont be affected. Perhaps after we stop invading nations which do not threaten our American way of life, our freedoms and liberties, we'll have enough money to ensure all working Americans have an equal chance to provide themselves and their family with a healthy life.
Comment: This bill will drive up the cost of health care and have a negative impact on the economy. It is a way for the government to control the public and to kill the seniors. I have been in the VA system since 1970 and it SUCKS !!!!! by Bill
Comment: I will lose my medicare advantage health insurance. That is not progress. by Elmer
Comment: No it will bankrupt this country by Aubrey
Comment: Unequal taxation. (Nebraska deal). Will use Medicare rationing to balance the costs. by Al
Comment: The Tea Party does not represent those that need this Health care reform bill to pass. Those that cannot afford health care or have a preexisting condition which make it very hard to get insurance need to be heard. by Brandy
Comment: government needs to stay out of the private sector as much as possible Insurance is private and needs reformed but let the private sector fix it. by kathie
Comment: Most of the people with a IQ above 10 realize that 95% of the government programs do not work and never come in under cost estimates. I would think that 75%+ would not support the health care bill in Congress. by Debbie
Comment: We need healthcare overhaul, but not this killer bill. by Marla
Comment: 1. Congress would not use it for themselves personally. 2. It will not take affect until years from now. They plan just to collect monies for years. 3. We could expand health care from the medicaid program we have now where people can get free doctors visits, medicine and braces are also free. 4. We do not really know exactly how much it is going to cost and how many wasteful programs are involved. 5. If we could just buy insurance across state lines we could bring health insurance down because there would competition. by Juanita
Comment: No, Never, No way, Nada. by Joseph
Comment: Absolutely NO! Socialized medicine is the last thing we need, adding to the record debt, creating longer lines to doctor's, compromising doctor's pay and current insurance plans, and giving unions preferential treatment over private industry. Health reform should be taken in small steps and not government run. by Steve
Comment: We don't want a bill leading to Socialized Medicine. We don't want the current Congress, if it passes, either. Elections will show what we meant. by becky
Comment: Let me see. I came from nothing. I remember the days of beans, tortillas, and potatoes. Pork chops were for special events! I have NEVER lived off of the government. I have worked ever since I graduated high school. Stop your crying and WORK for your fair share! Oh and I raise my kids RIGHT!
Comment: Hey Becky, Obama won the presidency with health care reform prominent in his agenda. The votes apparently show America wants affordable health care.
Comment: We need some improvements, but NOT like this! by elizabeth
Comment: The well-to-do have NO CLUE what is needed by the middle and lower class Americans (nor do they care) since they can afford all the health care they need. ALL AMERICANS should have a way to receive medical treatment (whether they're able to work or not), all the way down to the derelict on the street, whom no one cares about when he gets attacked or ill and winds up dying unclaimed. They call it “welfare” but it simply the country taking care of its own, just as other countries do. They can still health care as well as other issues to help to relieve the deficit, which, although not as high, has been there all of my life. Those who don't want government health care should continue to purchase their own insurances, and not try to prevent others from receiving the much-needed help that is long overdue for this country. Therefore, I commend President Obama for his persistence. Medicare pays for very little, so Senior Citizens truly need help with vision care and eyewear, ear care and earwear, dental care and prosthetics, and expensive tests (i.e. many types of X-Rays, etc.), that we wind up being fully or partially billed for; not to mention drug costs, while unable to pay due to a fixed income. I feel very strongly about this issue, but I’ll stop at this point. My finally statement: DON’T GIVE UP, PRESIDENT OBAMA… WAY TO GO!!! by Sin Diviro
Comment: I think Americans have been dumbed down and will accept anything that sounds good with out seeing the big picture. by Al
Comment: This "bill" which no one seems to have read, is a disaster for America and will lead to the liberals losing their so much wanted power for a long time to come. by Sammy
Comment: Any health care decisions should be between the patient and his/her doctor and not some government bureaucrat sitting in Washington D.C. by August
Comment: Our current govt is drunk on a power grab and financial ruin of our Country! by Cindy
Comment: I have faith in Obama. by Maureen
Comment: Absolutely not ! Half of what they are trying to do is unconstitutional. They need to start with small changes, not sweeping reform anyway. by Cindy
Comment: the government has no right to control personal health insurance by shannon
Comment: It would be the worst tragedy in the history of our country by Larry
Comment: The Federal Government does not have the constitutional right to control health care! by Lorraine
Comment: What's "in front of" Congress? They admit no one knows and yet they claim they're going to pass it!! What a way to run a country... into the ground!!! by Dee
Comment: This is a complete sham and those who voted the democrats into power should pay two fold by Mike
Comment: It's a bunch of chicanery. by Bruce
Comment: How can So Many Pro Life Politicians vote for depriving the untitled potentially life saving care? by Charles
Comment: The current congress is unethical, immoral and illegal. This "bill" is going to prove deadly. by David
Comment: There are too many people who cannot afford insurance at the current prices. We need to charge everyone to their ability to pay. by Richard
Comment: Absolutely not! What they are trying to shove down our throat is unconstitutional. The government can't run anything. by Cynthia
Comment: If Americans say No to this bill, they are either Republicans or Rich. The Republicans and the Rich only care for themselves. by Albert
Comment: Pure idiocy. Stupid for our representatives to vote on a complicated bill they have not read. Stupid to vote for the government to take almost 20% of the economy when the government cannot run anything effectively or efficiently. Stupid to put 30 million more people into the system with no increase in doctors, nurses, hospitals, and equipment then slap on price controls. JUST PLAIN STUPID!!!! by Mark
Comment: There is already current healthcare Medicare/Medicaid. In addition, there are also services for those who can't. by Lorenzo
Comment: Do we really want the same government responsible for the Katrina mess running our healthcare!!??? Are you kidding me!! by Pete
Comment: Veterans Administration is a managed healthcare system. I have been told twice in 3 months that either medication or a prosthetic device is too expensive and I have no recourse. Why would I trust a nationwide healthcare system? Everyone should have healthcare, but not at the hands of the Government! Fix the VA first! by Chris
Comment: It's the end of America. That's not an overstatement. Too many are willing to surrender what they no longer value. by Roscoe
Comment: It was & is a load of garbage before it was passed in the senate, thanks Olympia Snow. If you have ten thousand in credit card debit you do not go out & buy a new truck or car no matter who approves the loan! by Arthur
Comment: I SUPPORT IT BECAUSE MEDICARE WILL BE FIXED. SENIORS PAY $98 TO GOVT. BUT HOW MUCH DOES THE GOVT PAY INSURANCE COMPANY. MY FREIND HAS A PREEXISTING COND. AND HE CANNOT GET INSURE. by EDWARD
Comment: Having lived in the UK/Europe, Nationalized health care will create more problems than our current system and reduce the quality and availability of care for everyone, especially those who are older..over 55! by Matt
Comment: Mr. Gonzales is for this bill. Vote Jamie Martinez for Congress to stop the madness. If it ain't good enough for Congress it ain't good enough for me. by Chris
Comment: just another ploy for people to depend on government by Rudy
Comment: I SUPPORT IT BECAUSE THE GOVERMENT HAS THE BEST RUN HOSPITALS AND CLINICS. THE V.A. HEALTHM CARE SYSTEM IS GREAT. by GLORIA
Comment: It's a blatant power grab to put the socialist politicians in charge of our health care and make us dependent on them. The current process is as vile as the bill. by Robert
Comment: Social Security is broke, Medicare is broke, the Post Office is broke and now you want the U.S. Govt. to manage my health care, NO WAY. by Karl M.
Comment: We should invest in job by Richard
Comment: Reform is one thing, what they want to do is a take over and the government has no business getting into health care, need an example.... Medicare need I say more? by David
Comment: We, the United States of America, cannot afford it. This will handicap the country and we are already broke.
Comment: I think it is a planned first step to completely introduce a Canada style universal healthcare and the fact they are wanting to use reconciliation and deeming for something that equates to 1/6 of our economy to pass something a marjority of Americans don't want is absurd, and unconstitutional in my opinion... by Jean
