01/12 - ACS "Black Friday" Adoption Event

Think Black Friday only comes around in November? Think again!

Animal Care Services is hosting a special "black dog" adoption event this Friday, January 13th to spotlight some of the shelter's "harder to adopt" pets.

Dogs with darker colored coats traditionally have a tougher time getting adopted from animal shelters and it's so commonplace the phenomenon even has a name--black dog syndrome.

"We see it all the time at ACS," says Interim Live Release Coordinator Jeanne Saadi. "Darker colored dogs will get passed up in favor or lighter ones. We want folks to give them a second look because they're just as loving, just as loyal and just as in need of finding good homes."

This Friday, January 13th, all black dogs and puppies will be available for a special adoption fee of just $25.

All pets adopted from ACS are sterilized, vaccinated, microchipped and de-wormed. Each comes with their first annual City pet license and a free bag of premium pet food.

ACS is located at 4710 State Highway 151 off old Highway 90.

The shelter is open for adoptions seven days a week with hours of 11am to 7pm Monday through Friday, Saturdays from 11am to 5pm and Sundays Noon to 4pm.
