04/16 - All Registered Boarding Homes Fail City Inspections

By: Yami Virgin

Since a new Boarding Home Ordinance took effect on March 1 only 31 boarding homes have registered.

Of those, the city says, all have failed their initial inspection.

Conditions in 2 of them were so bad that they closed leaving 51 residents to be relocated.

One of those homes was on the 2700 block of Pleasanton road, Sunshine Lodge.

The other on the 1300 block of Norfleet, New Vista Lodge Boarding Care.

Most of the registered boarding homes, 19,  are located on city's east side.

Roderick Sanchez, with the city's Development Services and Code Enforcement, says that there are more than 200 boarding homes that have not registered.

Sanchez asked for the community to help by calling the city and reporting a boarding home in their neighborhood.

04/12 - Threat Taking Seriously by District Attorney

By: Yami Virgin

43 year-old John Pratt Jr. says voices told him to try and killl District Attorney Susan Reed and the Texas Attorney General.

But before Pratt could do anything he checked himself into the Audie Murphy V.A. Hospital.

Cliff Herberg with the District Attorney's Office says threats from the mentally ill aren't the ones that most concern them.

It's the unknown threats that worry the District Attorney's Office.

Herberg says that people need to know that any threats will be taken seriously and could land them in jail.

For example Randall Mujwid is serving a life sentence for sending threatning letters to Judge Reed while she was on the bench.

In those letters Mujwid would threaten to kill her.

Mujwid was charged with retaliation on a public servant for performing their duties.

04/11 - Missing Memories

By: Yami Virgin

A San Antonio couple is warning others about a photographer who after a year hasn't given them their wedding pictures.

Mary Hellen and Carlos Velazquez say "Gwen's Passion Photography" took their money and never gave them their pictures.

The owner of the business, in text messages, told the couple that their pictures had been deleted by mistake.

The Velazquez then asked for their video, engagement and bridal pictures.

That's when they say they were told that the owner's brother had the video and that the pictures would be mailed.

One year later nothing has been received by the Velazquez.

They say they're coming out now so other couples don't get ripped off.
