Prisoners at the Connally Unit in Karnes County spent another day rationing water. Officials say they restored water pressure to the prison but are now working on fixing leaks in pipes affected by the water woes. Last week problems with the city of Kenedy's water system caused the entire prison to lose water. Officials brought in 500 gallon water tankers and put everyone on a rotating shower and bathroom schedule. Officials canceled weekend visits for prisoners as well. Everything will get back to normal once the leaks have been fixed.

No lesson plans means no state review for CSCOPE
May 24, 2013 22:36 GMT
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) -- The State Board of Education is scrapping its special panel to review a controversial curriculum system, after its creators agreed to stop offering lesson plans.
CSCOPE had helped teachers adhere to state educational requirements by offering Web-based lesson plans and exams.
But some conservatives claimed CSCOPE promoted anti-American values. That prompted the State Board of Education to create a committee to review CSCOPE's lesson plans, beginning with social studies.
CSCOPE's creators were working voluntarily with the committee. But amid continued complaints, they voted Friday to take down all online lesson plans effective Aug. 31.
Board of Education Chairwoman Barbara Gargill said Friday that makes the review "no longer necessary."
She said CSCOPE "has vividly shown what can happen with content when it is left unchecked and with limited parental access."
