The fire hydrant problem that put Jourdanton homes at risk is closer to
getting fixed. A city survey found six hydrants in town were not working
properly. In the last few weeks crews have repaired four of those
hydrants and say the rest will be fixed in a matter of days. The problem
came to light last month when a fire at a home killed two people. At
the time crews found that a hydrant near the home was shut off. The city
ordered an inspection and has now taken over hydrant maintenance from
the volunteer fire department.

Texas mother worried about torture, traffickers
May 21, 2013 17:17 GMT
By BETSY BLANEY Associated Press
LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) -- Billie Dunn feared the worst while her teenage daughter was missing for more than two years.
During a phone interview Tuesday, Dunn said she imagined 13-year-old Hailey Dunn being tortured or that she'd fallen victim to human traffickers. But possibly the most painful part was thinking of Hailey wondering why her mother and father hadn't found her.
The 36-year-old mother said she also considered that a "random weirdo" might have pulled off nearby Interstate 20 and abducted Hailey.
Dunn reported Hailey missing in December 2010 in Colorado City. Remains found at a West Texas lake in March were identified last month as those of Hailey.
No arrests have been made. Shortly after Hailey's disappearance, police called Dunn's live-in boyfriend a person of interest, but he has not been charged.
