San Antonio Woman's Killer Executed

(AP) -- Texas prison officials have executed a registered sex offender for the rape, robbery and slaying of a woman abducted from a San Antonio bus stop 11 years ago.
Ramon Torres Hernandez was one of three people convicted in the killing of 37-year-old Rosa Maria Rosado.
She was pulled into a car Hernandez was driving after she refused to let go of her purse during a drive-by robbery.
The 41-year-old Hernandez was on parole at the time of his arrest in Rosado's death.
He also was a suspect in the slayings of three teenagers and a 12-year-old girl.
The U.S. Supreme Court refused last month to review Hernandez's death sentence and no late appeals were filed in the courts to block the lethal injection tonight.

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- Powerball is a game of numbers, and lottery officials say the majority of possible combinations have already been purchased ahead of Saturday night's near-historic $600 million drawing.
The odds of winning the game's largest jackpot remain astronomically low: 1 in 175.2 million.
But since about 80 percent of the possible combinations have been purchased, lottery officials say it's likely the winning ticket could be selected.
People lined up at gas stations and convenience stores Saturday for their chance at striking it rich.
South Carolina resident Benjamin Richardson says the few bucks he spends for every drawing are worth it. He also reasons that "it's all luck anyway."
The latest jackpot is the world's second largest overall, just behind a $656 million Mega Millions jackpot in March 2012.
