Cartel Leader Blamed for Falcon Lake Killing
By: Fox S.A. Staff & Associated Press

Mexican authorities have arrested a cartel leader they say is behind the murder of an American vacationing on Falcon Lake and he may be responsible for several other high profile crimes south of the border. Navy spokesman Jose Luis Vergara says Salvador Alfonso Martfnez Escobedo was arrested Saturday and is believed to have masterminded the massacre of 72 migrants in the northern state of Tamaulipas in 2010. The man known as "squirrel" also has been linked to the escape of 151 prisoners in 2010 from a jail in the city of Nuevo Laredo, the recent flight of 131 prisoners in the city of Piedras Negras and the killing of U.S. citizen David Hartley in 2010 on Falcon Lake, which straddles the U.S./Mexico border.Cartel Leader Blamed for Falcon Lake Killing

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Houston's Astrodome stadium, New York's old Pan Am Worldport Terminal at Kennedy Airport and Montana's one-room schoolhouses are joining a list of the nation's most endangered historic places.

On Wednesday, the National Trust for Historic Preservation is releasing its listing of America's 11 Most Endangered Historic Places. It includes sites from Maine to Alaska.

The Astrodome was the world's first domed, air-conditioned stadium and was once called the "eighth wonder of the world." On Wednesday, a county board recommended converting the Astrodome into a giant convention center and exhibition space.

At New York's JFK Airport, the flying-saucer-shaped Worldport Terminal helped usher in the jet age in 1960 but has been vacated by Delta Air Lines and faces demolition.

A look at these two places, plus all the others on the list, through photos:
