A troubled northwest side bar is now officially closed.
Today the city attorney's office and tabc confirmed GBar, on Ingram and Loop 410, is out of business and no longer has an alcohol permit.
The city attorney told the owner of the property that because of hundreds of calls involving shootings and other assaults they would go to court to have them declared a nuisance.
If that happened the entire strip mall could have been shut down.
Joe Nino with the city attorney's office said, "It's one of those where we talked to the property owner and said evict or remove or we will go after both of you and close the property down"
The owner of GBar chose to surrender the bar's license. As a result, the owner will not be able to apply for another license for a year.

Legislature amends Texas Open Beaches Act
May 27, 2013 02:12 GMT
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) -- The Texas Land Commissioner will have new discretion for making decisions regarding public beaches in a bill on its to the governor's office.
Lawmakers voted on Sunday to allow the commissioner to wait for three years after a hurricane before making a ruling on where public beaches end and private property begins.
In Texas all beaches are public property up to the vegetation line. But hurricanes and storms often move the vegetation line. The Texas Supreme Court recently ruled that a property owner can retain rights to land past the vegetation line following a storm.
The bill by Democratic Rep. Craig Eiland of Galveston would allow the land commissioner to wait three years to see where the vegetation grows back before making a ruling on the property line.
