The City of Dilley now has a new police chief, weeks after the former chief and several other officers resigned.
The city says Albert DeLeon was hired by the city council this week to take over the department.
The former chief and several other officers resigned earlier this month, along with the public works director.
That left the city with only two officers.
The Frio County Sheriff's Office has been assisting with patrols in the meantime.

Man arrested in Texas for 1962 death of La. woman
May 18, 2013 15:42 GMT
LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) -- A man arrested in a 51-year-old killing is being held in the Calcasieu Parish jail without bond.
Authorities arrested 73-year-old William Felix Vail Friday for the October 1962 killing of his wife, Mary Horton Vail. Calcasieu Parish District Attorney John DeRosier says he intends to seek Felix Vail's indictment for second-degree murder.
Authorities reopened an investigation into Mary Vail's death after stories written by The Clarion-Ledger of Jackson, Miss. Until recently, Vail lived in Mississippi.
The newspaper reports (http://on.thec-l.com/YQGEh2 ) Vail was arrested in Canyon Lake, Texas, Friday evening.
Mary Vail was ruled to have drowned, but family members found evidence tying Vail to the disappearance of girlfriend Sharon Hensley in 1973 and wife Annette Craver Vail in 1984.
The Calcasieu Parish coroner later reclassified Mary Vail's death as a homicide.
