Arrest Made in Robbery/Standoff

Authorities make an arrest following a standoff and robbery at an apartment complex near U.T.S.A. Adefemi Adekeye is charged with aggravated robbery. Investigators say Tuesday a 20-year-old man went to the Outpost Apartments to buy some marijuana from Adekeye. Once inside, the victim says he attempted to pay for the weed when another man come out, demanded his money, then pistol-whipped him. The victim was able to escape. Police surrounded the apartment for about an hour afterward. The man accused of pistol whipping the victim got away.

Fort Bliss chaplain gets 6 months for assault

FORT BLISS, Texas (AP) -- A chaplain at a West Texas post has been sentenced to six months of confinement after pleading guilty to assault and battery on a female civilian.
Officials at Fort Bliss on Wednesday night announced the penalty for Maj. Geoffrey Alleyne. Military investigators say the charges stem from a series of encounters last year between Alleyne and the civilian worker.
Alleyne pleaded guilty to assault and battery against a civilian employee on Fort Bliss, making a false official statement and conduct unbecoming an officer.
Fort Bliss Chaplain Lt. Col. Karen Meeker says the Chaplain Corps regrets the incident.
