SAWS customers can expect to see an increase in their bills soon.

The water provider finalized it's plans for a rate increase.

Bills will increase 7% or roughly $3.50 dollars a month for the average customer.

The money will help provide raises to saws employees, plus go toward the construction of a desalination plant and sewer maintenance.

SAWS also cleared the way to sell the former Bexarmet headquarters it acquired.

SAWS Vice President Greg Flores said, "One of the things we were able to do was determine what facilities we are going to need over the next 15, 20, 30 years and we already have a plan under way that will take that into account. We don't anticipate we're going to be needing this particular property."

SAWS says it expects to sell the property to CPS Energy for about $2 million.

As for the proposed rate increase, San Antonio City Council will vote on that next month.SAWS Moves Forward With Building Sale, Rate Increase
