WASTE WATCH: City May Pick Up Entire Streetcar Tab
By: Fox S.A. Staff

The City of San Antonio is trumpeting a new streetcar program for downtown but apparently businesses downtown do not even want it.

That move means taxpayers will have to pick up the entire tab.

On Thursday, city leaders will consider a plan to give VIA $15 million additional dollars for a downtown streetcar project.

That money was supposed to come from private businesses but a staff memo to city council members says that support 'does not exist at this time.'

VIA is set to begin planning for the streetcar system later this year.

The total cost of the project is expected to be $187 million.WASTE WATCH: City May Pick Up Entire Streetcar Tab
