Winter Air Duct Evaluation needed

Winter is coming(eventually, we promise), and for many that means the early morning fear of leaving the warmth of their beds for their incurably cold rooms. This common issue is often overlooked as something that cant be fixed. Good news, you can put the space heaters away (and please put the Snuggie down). Your heating problems can be solved with a simple air duct evaluation.

Your air ducts control the airflow from room to room, and faulty ones can lead to:

        Hot or cold spots

        Dusty rooms

       High energy bills

At Champion AC, we offer free air duct evaluations to determine whether or not your ducts are installed and functioning correctly. If you're going to have your heater working overtime to combat the dropping temperatures, an evaluation can potentially save you some serious cash on your energy bill. Faulty or leaking ducts can be losing up to30% of your conditioned air. Not to mention the dust, mold and pollen bad ducts will let into your home.

Opt for professional assistance and a free air duct evaluation this fall. You'll stay toasty and enjoy the winter months with the satisfaction of saving big on your energy bill.

Free or Low Cost Efficiency Projects for Fall

Free or Low-Cost Efficiency Projects for Fall
Posted by Champion AC - September 19, 2012 - ChampionAC, Energy Tips, San Antonio -

The arrival of fall over the next couple of weeks is a great time to make some energy-efficient changes around the home. Even better, its a great time to make some free or low-cost energy-efficient changes. Here are a few examples.

Change out your light bulbs: Fall weather means you have to turn the lights on earlier in the evening. So why not switch out your light bulbs to efficient CFL or LED bulbs? There is a cost for this upgrade, but the energy-efficient bulbs pay for themselves in energy savings over the lifespan of the bulbs.

Schedule a fall tune-up: Just like your car needs regular oil changes, your HVAC system needs regular maintenance. Its recommended that happen once before the summer and again before winter. A tune-up keeps your system running smoothly and efficiently " and includes a carbon monoxide check in the fall.

Check your air ducts: According to the National Comfort Institute, about 80% of homes have duct problems. The cooler weather means fall is a perfect time to head up to the attic and check out your ductwork. What should you look for? Kinks, holes, etc. Here are a couple of signs you may have duct problems: hot/cold spots in your home and dust on the top of your doors. If you notice an issue, Champion AC offers free air duct evaluations.

Is your San Antonio heating system is ready?

by Champion AC - October 5, 2012 - ChampionAC, heater, San Antonio
Get ready, San Antonio! Our first real, cold front is headed our way.

The front is expected to drop temperatures into the 50s and 60s this weekend. Sundays high is forecasted at 65, with lows in the low 50s. Temperatures in the Hill Country will be even colder than that.

Is your San Antonio heating system is ready? Today would be a good chance to turn your heater on for a few minutes to make sure its working correctly. Dont forget " youll notice that smell that happens every time you turn your heater on for the first time of the season. Its often called dirty socks syndrome. Its nothing to worry about, unless your smoke detector and/or carbon monoxide detector goes off. That smell is dirt and lent burning off the heat exchange. Again, its normal.

Champion AC also wants to remind you about regular fall tune-up for your heating system. Our 17-point tune-ups make sure your system is running efficiently and effectively, and we also perform a carbon monoxide check.
Hope you enjoy this first blast of cold weather
