SAN ANTONIO- We've all heard too much of a good thing can be harmful and that goes for trying to eat so healthy you actually do harm to your body.
It's a severe eating disorder called orthorexia.  Dr. Martha Alaniz, who specializes in eating disorders, says orthorexia is healthy dieting taken to the extreme.  All a person thinks about is eating pure and healthy foods.

"The emphasis is on becoming obsessed with only eating healthy foods that are free of preservatives, salt, sugar, dyes and restrict their diet so much they're particular in the quantity they eat and the calories they take in," Alaniz stated.

People limit their diets so much they're robbing their bodies of what they need.  Some cut out essential food groups like meats which can lead to severe weight loss and serious medical problems.   Eating too healthy can lead to eating disorder
