The City of San Antonio has agreed to pay tens of thousands of dollars to the family of a man killed by a police officer.

City Council approved a payout of $180,000 to Daniel and Gloria Thomas.

Back in November 2007, Daniel Thomas was shot and killed by two S.A.P.D. officers.

The officers thought Thomas was pointing a gun at officers, but it turned out it was his wallet.

Today's payout is aimed at avoiding a jury trial.

City Council also approved another big payout - this one to a car wreck victim.

In March 2009 a San Antonio Police officer crashed into Natasha Brown's car off Culebra and Timber View.

Brown survived but had thousands in medical expenses.

City Council awarded her $175,000 today to avoid a jury trial.City Pays Tens of Thousands to Victims
