This information provides the student with the ability to gain employment as an entry-level medical records coder and claims technician for all major insurance carriers, government medical and workman’s compensation programs, HMO, PPO and managed care programs. Students will also learn to use computerized medical management software.Hospitality, Travel and TourismThe Hospitality, Travel and Tourism Program is designed to simplify complex Computer Reservation System functions so that entry level graduates can quickly gain a working proficiency as well as provide enough advanced material so that even experienced CRS users can benefit. The program will familiarize the student with the overall concept of the Hospitality, Travel and Tourism industry and provide an overview of his/her role. In addition, the graduate will be able to provide customer service in all aspects of the industry to include hotel, restaurant, travel, conventions and car rental. The graduate will also be able to demonstrate proficiency in day-to-day general office responsibilities such as operate office machines, perform general office duties and provide supervision.Medical Office SpecialistThe Medical Office Specialist Program is specifically designed to prepare the student with the skills and knowledge to become a productive front office employee in a medical office environment. Proficiencies will include medical terminology, accounting, patient scheduling, patient accounting, insurance forms, modern medical software as well as word processing. The student will also develop skills to be able to work effectively with co-workers and have a professional attitude.Nurse's Aide/Home Health AideThe Nurse’s Aide Program provides entry-level training to those individuals interested in entering the nursing profession. The program is designed so that a graduate may take the test and be Certified by the Texas Department of Human Services.Phlebotomy/EKG Technician Specialist ProgramThe Phlebotomy/EKG Technician Specialist Program is specifically designed to prepare students with the skills and medical knowledge required to comprehend and apply technical and clinical skills necessary to perform phlebotomy procedures whether in a clinical, laboratory, or hospital setting. The student will also be able to perform word processing and data entry tasks performed in front office or administrative areas, as well as demonstrate the ability to comply with standards set forth by CLIA, HIPAA, and OSHA. The graduate would be eligible to apply for positions such as: secretary, office manager, clerk, typist, receptionist, computer operator, accounting clerk, and administrative assistant.
